Shortcut Action Description
Ctrl/Cmd + N New Timeline Creates a new timeline in the current bin.

Editing Tools (Selection)

Shortcut Tool Description
A Selection Mode (Arrow) The default tool for selecting, moving, and trimming clips.
T Trim Edit Mode (Dynamic) Selects Ripple, Roll, Slip, or Slide based on where you click.
B Blade Edit Mode Cuts a clip at the point you click.
Ctrl/Cmd + B Blade at Playhead Cuts the selected clip(s) at the playhead position.

Placing Clips on the Timeline

Shortcut Action Description
F9 Insert Inserts a clip at the playhead, pushing subsequent clips back.
F10 Overwrite Places a clip at the playhead, overwriting anything underneath it.
F12 Replace Replaces the clip under the playhead with the source clip.

Timeline Actions

Shortcut Action
Backspace/Delete Delete Selected Lifts the clip, leaving a gap.
Shift + Backspace/Delete Ripple Delete Deletes the clip and closes the gap.
Ctrl/Cmd + C Copy Clip
Ctrl/Cmd + V Paste Clip
Alt/Opt + Drag Clip Duplicate Clip Drags a copy of the selected clip.
D Disable / Enable Clip
N Snapping Toggles magnetic snapping on the timeline.

Color Page (Shift + 6)

This is the hub for color correction and grading.

Node Graph

Shortcut Action
Alt/Opt + S Add Serial Node Adds a new node after the selected node.
Alt/Opt + P Add Parallel Node Adds a new node that mixes with the selected node's input.
Shift + S Add Node Before Adds a new node before the selected node.
Ctrl/Cmd + D Disable / Enable Node

Grading & Scopes

Shortcut Action
Ctrl/Cmd + Home Reset Current Node Resets all adjustments on the selected node.
Alt/Opt + X Cut Grade (Copies and resets the grade)
Alt/Opt + C Copy Grade
Alt/Opt + V Paste Grade
Middle Mouse Button Apply Grade Copies the grade from the previous clip to the current one.
Shift + H Highlight Mode Shows only the parts of the image you have qualified/selected.
Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + W Toggle Scopes On/Off

Cut Page (Shift + 3)

Designed for speed and efficiency.

Shortcut Action Description
Q Smart Insert Intelligently inserts a clip into the timeline.
W Append at End Adds the source clip to the end of the timeline.
E Ripple Overwrite Overwrites a clip on the timeline, adjusting the duration to fit.
Ctrl/Cmd + \ Split Clip The "blade" tool for the Cut page.

Deliver Page (Shift + 8)

For exporting your final video.

Shift + Enter Add to Render Queue
Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Enter Start Render Begins rendering all jobs in the queue.

Most Important Tip for Beginners

If you're ever lost, use the Workspace menu. You can show/hide different panels (like Effects, Inspector, Media Pool) and reset the UI layout if it gets cluttered. Learning to manage your screen real estate is key to mastering Resolve.
